Krzysztof Kutt, PhD

Computer scientist and psychologist trying to combine expertise from both disciplines into something cool.

I hold a PhD (2018) degree in Computer Science from AGH University of Science and Technology.

I hold a Master of Science (MSc, 2013) degree in Computer Science from AGH University of Science and Technology.
I hold a Master of Arts (MA, 2016) degree in Psychology from Jagiellonian University.

Currently I hold a position of Assistant Professor at Jagiellonian University.

My research activity focuses on:

  • the development of affective HCI/BCI interfaces (based on multimodal fusion of signals and contextual data)
  • methods for processing sensory data (including semantization of such data)
  • and the development of knowledge-based systems (in particular knowledge graphs and semantic web systems).

  • [2025.12.29] — Knowledge Graphs for Digital Humanities and Linguistics, an introductory text on knowledge graphs for non-computer scientists that I piloted, has been published as part of The Routledge Handbook of Transdisciplinary Systemic Functional Linguistics. I would like to thank all the co-authors (Luiz do Valle Miranda, Jakub Gomułka, Ricardo Alonso-Maturana, Susana López-Sola, José Palma & Grzegorz J. Nalepa) as well as the editors of this volume for the fruitful collaboration!
  • [2024.12.01] — Yes, we are starting! Some paper work is still in progress, but we will cherish our heritage in Cultural Heritage Exploration and Retrieval with Intelligent Systems at the Jagiellonian University (CHExRISH) project together with JU Museum, JU Archives and Jagiellonian Library! See more at project webpage.
  • [2024.05.31] — We are working on BIRAFFE3! This will be our last AfC experiment before some (affective) reorganization, so we want to check each detail. Our current progress is summarized in Emotion Prediction in Real-Life Scenarios: On the Way to the BIRAFFE3 Dataset by Krzysztof Kutt & Grzegorz J. Nalepa
  • [2023.11.06] — It ain’t much, but it’s honest work: maybe it will not change the affective computing field, but it is one next step in our BIRAFFE/AfC path — working affective game with implemented affective loop. • [2023.10.01] — I’m really excited because, together with many outstanding partners, I’ll be co-creating PEER (The hyPEr ExpeRt collaborative AI assistant). This EU HORIZON project is not just building AI assistants; it’s trying to redefine the way humans and AI interact! See more at official project webpage.
